Course Description

This is an interactive course designed to help participants connect to, build upon, and strengthen their own inner wisdom to nurture resilience in challenging times. This workshop offers research-backed tools in psychological wellbeing based in mindfulness and positive psychology. Participants will learn to develop a better relationship with overwhelming or challenging emotions. They will also learn techniques to open up to and connect more deeply with positive emotions and spotlight attention on what brings joy, hope, and purpose. Each class will include guided meditations, teachings on the science of the mind, reflection exercises, and practical tools to take away. This course will consist of weekly live sessions that will include instruction, guided practice, partner exercises, group sharing, and Q&A.

Curriculum

Part one | Mindfulness for staying grounded and dealing with overwhelming emotions

Explore meta-emotions and how they can compound our suffering without us realizing it. Discover essential mindfulness principles and practices for working with, and developing a new relationship with, overwhelming and challenging emotions.

Part two | Authentic connection and communication

Learn to connect with yourself and others more authentically and deeply. Uncover your strengths and inner wisdom. Practice speaking, listening, and connecting with others more openly and authentically. Explore what’s blocking you from listening to others with an open heart. Cultivate courage for expressing yourself with authenticity and compassion. Build your toolset for staying connected to others when communicating.

Part three | Counteracting negative thoughts and seeing with fresh eyes

Discover techniques for opening up to and connecting more deeply with positive emotions through research-backed practices from positive psychology. Learn to strengthen the muscles of gratitude and perspective by spotlighting attention on what brings joy, hope, and purpose.

Part four | Becoming the person you want to be during difficult times

Visualize and clarify your idea of the best version of yourself. Then, from a place of self-compassion and encouragement, build a roadmap for yourself to tangibly make strides toward becoming this person.
